Projects
Miami, Florida
East Island Aviation Services, Inc
This assignment focused on strengthening the resilience of regional boarding ramps and switchback gantries serving airport passengers. The engineering team evaluated the systems for overall lateral stability and developed anchoring and tie-down solutions suited to concrete, asphalt, and underlying soil conditions.
The design addressed Miami’s demanding wind environment, with provisions for gusts up to 134 mph, while coordinating structural steel, anchorage testing, and operational procedures for severe weather. Detailed plans established how the mobile boarding equipment could be secured without compromising its everyday function, helping airport personnel transition efficiently from routine operations to hurricane preparedness. The result was a practical safety upgrade that connected structural design with real-world airfield operations, protecting critical passenger infrastructure while supporting continuity at one of South Florida’s busiest aviation gateways.
