Holocaust Memorial

This project highlights the often-unseen role of structural engineering in turning a civic vision into a lasting place of meaning. Commissioned by the City of Coconut Creek, the Holocaust Memorial is a sculptural installation by artist Marit Meisler, created as a space for remembrance, reflection, and quiet gathering. Our role was to ensure that this expressive work could stand safely and endure in a public environment.

The process began with a feasibility review, translating artistic intent into structural reality. We evaluated wind forces, material performance, and constructability, working closely with the City, the artist, and the fabricator to align creativity with engineering clarity. As the design progressed, our scope expanded to include gravity and wind load analysis, foundation and anchorage design, and the preparation of sealed construction documents suitable for permitting and construction in South Florida’s challenging climate.

What remains largely invisible is the framework that supports the memorial—designed to balance safety, durability, and respect for its symbolic purpose—helping bring the City’s vision to life with confidence and care.
