Aero Systems Engineering
This project involved providing structural engineering services for Phase 2 of the modular walkway and ramp systems at Salt Lake City International Airport as part of the North Concourse development. The work focused on evaluating and analyzing multiple new and modified passenger circulation elements, including multi-level elevated “switch-back” ramp systems, at-grade enclosed walkways, bus shelters, and reconfigured existing modular walkways to accommodate updated passenger traffic flow.
The scope included detailed structural analyses for wind, seismic, snow, and live loads in general accordance with the 2018 International Building Code as adopted by Salt Lake City. Particular emphasis was placed on assessing overall lateral stability, wind overturning, and anchorage of modular systems supported on existing reinforced concrete apron pavement. The services also included evaluation and design of modifications to existing truss structures to support new walkway configurations.
Formal calculation packages were prepared, including RISA 3D structural models, anchorage force determinations, and detailed anchoring drawings suitable for professional engineer review, signing, and sealing for use in the State of Utah.
