English Oaks
English Oaks: Lateral Load Analysis For The Driven Piles
English Oaks Force Main Project consisted of the construction of a 30 inch force main crossing over an eighty foot wide creek along the western limits of Cleveland Heights Golf Course in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida. A pile supported system consisting of 14 inch square prestressed, precast concrete pile was proposed.
A geotechnical exploration program consisting of two deep test boring on either side of the creek revealed differing subsoil conditions resulting in variable pile embedment depths. L Pile computer program was used for the determination of lateral design capacity for various deflections of the pile head. To achieve a rational solution of a laterally loaded pile, a deflected shape was computed for the pile that is compatible with the characteristics of the superstructure and with the force deformation characteristics predicted for the soil. Geotechnical parameters were provided for utilization by the structural engineer/designer and performing lateral load analysis for the driven piles. The project was completed in a timely manner.
